"WE CAN BEAT EAGLETS!"

Iranian attacker Yousef Seyyedi believes they stand a good chance of defeating Nigeria in tomorrow's clash at the Sheikh Khalifa International Stadium. Seyyedi re-echoed his coach's view that the match against Nigeria on Tuesday will be difficult but revealed that they will show no respect to the three time winners of the competition.

Iran will face high flying Eaglets at Dubai’s Rashid Stadium with the winner to face either Uruguay or Slovakia in the quarter-finals. “All team have come here to win the title. In my opinion, Nigeria is one of the best teams here and it will be difficult against them,” Yousef Seyyedi told Tehrantimes. “We will be taking nothing for granted against Nigeria. It’s an important match to advance to the next stage. Our players must do their best.”

Iran were forced to wait until their third match for their first win. The match between Iran and Argentina was less than a minute old when the ball first hit the back of the net. “I saw the ball, picked it up and just took a shot. I never believed it would end up in the goal,” said Mostafa Hashemi of his goal after 55 seconds – the fastest in the history of the tournament.
The birthday boy smashed the ball under the crossbar, striking it on the half-volley from some 25 metres out. “I was completely shocked and just froze. Then everyone ran over to me – the players, coaches and substitutes – and celebrated with me. It was unbelievable.”
