BATTERED!

Nigeria's dwindling fortunes in boxing has been further underlined with the woeful performance of her boxers at the ongoing World Boxing Championship in Kazakhstan.

All the 6 Nigerian representatives crashed out of the Championship even before it got to the crucial stages.
Four of the boxers lost their preliminary round fights while the remaining two bowed out in the 2nd round.

In the preliminaries, Nigeria's Taiwo Wasiu lost 3-10 to Bulgaria's Antonov George in the 49kg category. Yusuf Olayinka also lost 3-10 to Edward Clark of England in the 52kg category Ojo Sikiru was beaten 0-3 by Algeria's Benbaziz Reda of Algeria in the 56kg category Joseph Oto was also beaten 0-3 by Zeqiri Lindon in the 60kg category.

The remaining two Nigerian boxers Adeniji Korede(69kg) and Apoche Efetobor(91kg) lost out in the 2nd round after posting victories in the preliminary rounds.
