FIFA LISTS NIGERIAN REFEREE FOR WORLD CLUB CUP

FIFA have named Nigerian referee Peter Edibi as one of the referees to officiate at the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for Agadir and Marakech from December 11 to 21 in Morocco .

The Cross River born state official joins the list of six other African referees invited, including Gassama Bakary Papa of Gambia (who will handle Nigeria’s match against Ethiopia this week end ) Alioum Neant of Cameroun, Ogbamarien Angeson of Eritrea, Kabanda Felicien of Rwanda and Menkwande Evarist of Cameroun.

A letter by the FIFA Referees Committee which was sent to the referee and copied to Mr Linus Mba, FIFA Referees advisor and Consultant to the NFF on Refereeing asked the referee to report at the Palmeraie Golf Palace Hotel in Marrrakech by December 4.

Edibi who was also on duty at the last FIFA U-20 World cup in Turkey has also featured in four AFCON tournaments; Ghana (2008), Angola (2010), Equatorial Guinea (2012) and South Africa (2013).
 

European Champions Bayern Munich and favourites to lift this year’s Club trophy lie in wait for the winner of the confrontation between African Champions Al Ahly and the Asian Champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
Also to feature are Raja Cassablanca as hosts, CONCACAF champions CF Monterey of Mexico, South American champions Athletico Mineiro of Brazil and Oceania representatives Auckland FC of New Zealand.
